ABOUT

”We Get Requests” is one of the most popular studio albums by piano icon Oscar Peterson and his classic trio with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen. It was released in 1964, the year after the release of their great masterpiece album “Night Train” and thus during the apex of this legendary trio’s career. The album was recorded in New York City over three sessions that took place at RCA Studios in the Fall of 1964 and marked the end of Peterson's fourteen-year association with the Ververecord label. Several of the songs are the type of songs that in the mid-'60s would tget requested (such as "The Girl from Ipanema," and "The Days of Wine and Roses”) and Peterson uplifts that material plus adds other songs (such as his own "Goodbye, J.D." and John Lewis’ "D & E"). Tonight’s leader, Alvin Queen, is a legend in his own right. For many years, he was the drummer in Oscar Peterson’s final group before the latter’s passing in 2007.
