A musical journey through interpretations of repertoire and genres not previously translated through the lens of Jazz

The Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective (NLD IJC) will once again take up residence at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in 2024 to produce four unique and exclusive concert projects led by some of the greatest jazz artists from our time.

AUG 30 - A JAZZ CELEBRATION OF AN ICON

To kick off the season, the stage will be graced by one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Mike Stern, on lead guitar, alongside another highly accomplished guitarist, his wife Leni Stern. François Moutin, the French bass virtuoso, and his charismatic and energetic twin brother, Louis Moutin on drums, along with guest vocalist Nana Nørgaard (aka Neu Sierra), complete this ensemble. Together, they will embark on a musical journey, reinterpreting Hendrix's timeless songs through the lens of jazz, promising an evening of sonic exploration and innovation.

SEP 20 - HONORING A LEGENDARY BAND

A groundbreaking exploration of jazz and grunge featuring the great Bill Evans on saxophones leading an incredible international band, with Gary Husband on piano, Linley Marthe on electric bass, and Nicolas Viccaro on drums. Together, they will present a new angle on the raw energy of Nirvana's iconic works through the lens of jazz. This ensemble promises an evening of musical innovation, where the worlds of jazz and grunge converge in a harmonious fusion.

NOV 8 - “THE RADIUS OF NOW” - EXPLORING THE PRESENT MOMENT

Experience an intimate and introspective journey with Niels Lan Doky on solo piano for the very first time in Denmark. He is ready to embark on a new journey with his concert series, “The Radius Of Now,” showcasing his original compositions and improvisational ‘Explorations’ - spontaneous, abstract-poetic creations that delve deep into the present moment, rendering each performance a singular and extraordinary experience that cannot be replicated. This solo performance is a rare opportunity to witness the raw and unfiltered talent of one of jazz's luminaries.

DEC 6 - A SOULSTIRRING INTERPRETATION

Concluding our Fall 2024 series, a concert led by the impeccable Manu Katché on drums. On stage, he will be joined by the young sensation Marta Wajdzik on alto and soprano saxophone, the incredible bass virtuoso Felix Pastorius, and Calle Brickman on piano. Together, they will delve into the timeless repertoire of Amy Winehouse, creating an unforgettable night where Winehouse's soulful compositions merge with the improvisational spirit of jazz—a powerful and emotional homage to a musical icon.
