This was a truly special concert with some of jazz’ all time greatest musicians. Harvey Mason’s sound and drum style is unavoidable as one of the most recorded drummers of all time. Darryl Jones rose to fame touring with Miles Davis and later joined the Rolling Stones. Saxophonist Bill Evans also began his career with Miles, recorded 26 solo CDs and toured with the biggest names. Pianist, composer, and producer, Niels Lan Doky, has been hailed as “one of the most important pianists that European jazz has given us in the last 45 years”. Just to highlight a few touch points.

We got to experience Jazz/Take highlights from current and past seasons with songs by Nirvana, Seal, Soundgarden, Patti Smith and a few original gems.

The quartet performed a captivating set of the following songs:

  • Dixie Hop (Bill Evans)*

  • Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana)

  • Sex Pots (Niels Lan Doky)

  • Kiss From A Rose (Seal)

  • Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden)

  • Hearts Of Havana (Bill Evans)*

  • Dancing Barefoot (Patti Smith)

All compositions arranged by Niels Lan Doky except ones marked with *
